Adventures in Shaving Cream

Shaving cream is a great activity to do with a toddler.  It's cheap and easy to clean up.  I thought we'd take the fun outside to the trampoline today.  After we were done with the shaving cream and it was a total mess I gave Bailey the water hose and she got to work washing it off.  I think that was her favorite part because she also got to wash me off, too!  Here's how our adventure went:
Just barely getting our feet and hands in it.

Feels good!  Might as well have a seat.

Why not spread it on my legs?

Rub, rub, rub!

Don't put it in your mouth!

Starting to get messy!

Of course, Mommy had to join in the fun, too!

So, it's okay to jump in this stuff?

She asked me to put it in her hair.  I promise!

Big smile!

Check out the awesome hairdo!

She looks like a Dr. Seuss character!

And what's more fun than rolling around in shaving cream?

Keeping a Toddler Busy is No Easy Task

Now that Bailey and I are off for the summer I have found it quite difficult keeping her busy and entertained without having the television on all day.  If she could watch Dora, Diego, or Curious George all day long she would!  So I have tried to find ways to keep her entertained, unfortunately they don't last too long, unless it's the trampoline keeping her entertained.  She could jump on that for hours, but only if I'm jumping with her, which I don't have the energy for.  So below are just a few pictures of what we've been up to so far this summer.

I bought her this block set that lasted a total of ten minutes.  Hopefully she'll play with it more this summer.  She hasn't quite figured out how to put the blocks in order of size and shape yet.

Shaving cream on the cocktail table is fun!  We draw shapes and letters and Bailey likes to guess what I'm drawing.  Then of course she really likes to spray it with her spray bottle.

She especially loves when Daddy gets involved!

And why not wipe the shaving cream all over your belly, too?  That looks like fun!
And then of course there is always Mommy's phone to play with.  She especially enjoys calling people without my knowledge.
Jumping with Daddy on the trampoline is her favorite summer activity!

She also likes being outside on the porch playing at her "water table".

This was Scott's Spiderman shirt when he was little.  Bailey loves it, but it's a little too big for her.

Dickerson Reunion 2012

Scott was able to get off early Friday, so that we could get to Mo Ranch early enough to enjoy ourselves for a little bit.  The first thing we did after unpacking was go to the stream that she enjoyed last year.  Bailey is a big fan of splashing in the water. So of course she had a blast and immediately got soaked and wanted her shirt off(no surprise).
That night Bailey played football with her cousins, Preston and Jake, and her daddy.   Crossing my fingers that she is an athlete when she gets older.  But, of course, if she isn't that's okay, too.

Then  it was a walk to the bridge and yes, Monkey had to come with us.  I'm really hoping that Monkey doesn't go to Kindergarten with her.

The next day we headed to the river.  Katie bought Bailey an adorable new swimsuit and lifejacket, since I totally blanked and forgot the one I bought her at home.   How cute does she look?  Bailey got in the river with her daddy, but that didn't last very long because the water was so cold.

We noticed some canoes off to the side that we just had to try.   Of course leave it to me to pick the one canoe with a hole in it, then get in trouble with the teenaged lifeguard for not wearing my life jacket.  So we paddled back to dry land.  Katie and Adam showed up in the kayaks that they recently got as a gift and let us borrow them.  No holes and life jackets inside.  Yes!  Bailey rode with her daddy (the less clumsy one of her parents) and we were off.  It was fun, but very exhausting paddling, especially when you haven't worked out in a while.  Yikes!  Bailey kept trying to stand up in Scott's kayak.  So midway we switched and put her in mine.  Not sure how safe that was, but...

Then we walked to the rapids, which I had heard about last year, but didn't get to experience them. Bailey had a complete blast.  Scott and I would take turns letting her "ride the rapids" using her life jacket.  She did not want to leave and threw a bit of a fit when we did.

Bailey and her Pappy

After Bailey (and Mommy) took a 2+ nap, we headed out for more water fun.  Pappy went with us to the pool and he and Scott took turns tossing Bailey in the water.  Of course, she loved it!
After dinner we headed down to the river where the sand volleyball court is and played our annual water balloon game.  It got a little crazy at the end because a ring was lost and the whole family was in the sand digging around trying to find it.

It was such a great weekend and I can't wait for all the memories we will make next year!

30 Day Challenge: Photograph Your Kids

I wanted some new ideas for photographs to take of Bailey, so I've been checking out photography blogs and posting to my pinterest boards.  I found one that I liked called 30 Day Challenge: Photograph Your Kids.  It's on one of my favorite photography blogs.  Of course, I've been taking multiple pictures per day and not going in order, but it's given me some good inspiration.  Check out my Photography board on Pinterest for more ideas.  Click on each picture to enlarge.

Wedding Weekend

Over Memorial weekend, Bailey and I traveled up to Denton with my parents to see my cousin, Brad get married.  Bailey did so well on the trip up, which what I was mostly worried about.  I was smart enough to download Curious George onto the iPad and she watched it most of the way up there.  Curious George is her new favorite movie and by favorite I mean that she watches it every day and always asks for it.  AND has a huge monkey, as you can see in the picture that she carries with her EVERYWHERE.  The monkey's name is Monkey (in case you were wondering).  I know, soooo original.

Anyway, we got to the hotel and hung out with Aunt Katie for a little bit.  And of course she watched more Curious George on the iPad with Monkey sitting next to her.  This wasn't the first time that Bailey and I took a trip somewhere without Scott, but it WAS the first time that she has stayed in a hotel room.  So it was just me and Bailey in the hotel room by ourselves.  It was quite the adventure!

Later that night we headed to the wedding.  Bailey would NOT leave Monkey behind, so she carried her furry, oversized friend with her into the ceremony.  I wasn't about to have her throw a fit right before the ceremony.  She did so well through the whole thing, holding Monkey in one hand, and her pacifier in her mouth.  I was very proud to be her mommy.  Of course, the wedding was beautiful.  I wish I had pictures of the ceremony, but it was way too hard to hold Bailey in my lap and take decent pictures. Then it was on to the reception, which was right next door.  Bailey only threw one fit the entire weekend, which is pretty good for a 2 year old.  The fit came her only at the reception before most people were even there.  All I had to say was, "Wanna go for a walk?" and she jumped up and walked with me.  I think she had been tired of sitting.

Of course as the night continued Bailey had a total blast dancing the night away.  She danced all the way until about 11:30 when she finally crashed in my dad's arms.  She was so exhausted from all that dancing that she snored so hard that night I had to nudge her.

The next day, we went shopping, took naps, and ate (of course).  We went to eat at Babes (I think).  We hung out a little bit at the cute "downtown" area right next door.  Bailey really wanted to ride the horse, but I put a quarter in and it didn't work.  So she pretended to ride and it made horse noises.  As you can see Monkey is riding with her!

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend, spent with my amazing family.  Bailey had lots of new experiences and it was so much fun!
